Current mobile robotics forces humans to walk at a slower pace and be constantly vigilant in shared spaces. Our project will research and develop a safe and reliable robot navigation system that also conforms to social norms, not only to make breakthroughs in methods, but also to build a standardizable benchmarking framework, so that the developed system can be truly exploitable and economical, and go beyond expensive customized solutions, specific use cases, and controlled environments.
